The first book has an imaginative story-book approach which gives a clear introduction to the game including the board layout, the two chess kingdoms and the moves of all of the different pieces. With this book, you and your child can act out each of the pictured moves and become familiar with the game play.
The second book can be introduced incrementally. It develops skills and strategies by exploring the strengths and weaknesses of each piece.
The set comes packed in a magnetic storage box. A velvet pouch for the chess playing pieces is also included.

| When my daughter asked for a chess set for her sixth birthday I was taken aback - where did she get the idea from, and how do you teach a child to play chess (I barely know the game myself).
